AACS & L’Oréal Professional Products Division Announce Opening of 2026 Student Stylist of the Year Competition
Celebrating the Next Generation of Beauty Talent Nationwide

Washington, D.C. —March 25, 2026 — The American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS), in partnership with L’Oréal Professional Products Division, is proud to announce that submissions are now open for the 2026 AACS & L’Oréal Student Stylist of the Year competition.

Open to students enrolled at AACS member schools, this national competition recognizes and celebrates emerging talent in the beauty, barber, and wellness education sector. Participants are challenged to showcase their creativity, technical skill, and artistic vision through the creation of a complete look demonstrating texture, color, and finish.

The 2026 theme, “Avant-Garde After Dark,” invites students to push creative boundaries and explore bold, high-fashion concepts inspired by the intrigue and artistry of nighttime expression.

To enter, students must submit a 30–60 second video, a final still image of their look, and a signed instructor affidavit. Submissions are open now and will be accepted through May 15, 2026, with no cost to enter.

Finalists will be announced in June, and winners will be recognized at the 2026 Career Educators Alliance (CEA) Conference, taking place July 18–20 in Anaheim, California.

In addition to national recognition, participants benefit from building their professional portfolios, gaining industry exposure, and connecting with leading brands and educators across the country.

Schools are encouraged to support their students throughout the submission process. AACS has provided resources including a promotional flyer, judging rubric, and sample entry video to help participants prepare competitive entries.
