Breaking News: Materials Released for Upcoming Rulemaking Session

MATERIALS RELEASED FOR UPCOMING RULEMAKING SESSION ONPROGRAM INTEGRITY AND INSTITUTIONAL QUALITY

The Department of Education has released five issue papers and additional supporting materials in preparation for the final Negotiated Rulemaking on Program Integrity and Institutional Quality Committee meeting taking place March 4 through March 7, 2024. As in the previous sessions, the topics include:

Among other issues, AACS will be closely monitoring the proposed language concerning the exclusion of asynchronous clock hours from the definition of “clock hour” instruction, and the exclusion of books and supplies (which includes kits for beauty, barber and wellness institutions) from the definition of “tuition, fees and institutionally provided food and housing.” These topics are of particular importance to AACS Members, and updates will be provided to membership following the session. As this is the final rulemaking session on Program Integrity and Institutional Quality Committee, the Committee will take a vote at the conclusion of the session to determine whether the Committee has reached consensus on any of the proposed language.
